Courage leaves a mark

You can see it in the way a child still smiles between chemo rounds, or how a parent holds steady when the ground gives way.

The Childhood Cancer Hall of Champions™ will be the first-ever space devoted to those moments— a living monument to the children and families who face childhood cancer with extraordinary strength.

Real Kids. Real Courage.

Joshua: Finding Strength in Sharing

At thirteen, Joshua faced leukemia with the same courage he now shares with others. Months of sickness, pain, and recovery couldn’t quiet his joy—or his mission. From hospital concerts to public events, Joshua found his strength in connection, using his voice to raise awareness and remind other kids: even in the hardest moments, you can still find reasons to smile.

Ashton: The Boy who Bounced Back

At just six years old, Ashton was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia after what seemed like a simple cough. Months of hospital stays, 14 surgeries, and countless treatments followed—but so did his unshakable spirit. Today, Ashton is in remission, taking daily chemo, and dreaming of the day he can return home to ride his bike and just be a kid again.

Lilli: Bravery in a Ballgown

At four years old, Lilli was diagnosed with a brain tumor that threatened her vision. Every week of chemotherapy, she arrived dressed as a different princess—her gowns becoming a suit of armor and a source of joy for everyone around her. Today, her tumor remains stable, and her bravery lives on through Costumes for Courage, a nonprofit inspired by her mission to help other children face their hardest days with strength, sparkle, and hope.

Every child’s story leaves a mark.

These stories remind us what the Hall is really about — not bricks or buildings, but people who prove that hope never quits.

Turning Courage into Legacy.

Michael G. Velázquez, founder of The Childhood Cancer Hall of Champions™

Hi, I’m Michael G. Velázquez, the founder of The Childhood Cancer Hall of Champions™.

When I think about this project, I don’t see it as an organization or even a mission — I see it as a promise.

It challenges me to grow — as a man, as a father, as a human being. It reminds me that my life does, indeed, matter — that God placed a blessing in my heart to accomplish something meaningful and purposeful with the time I’ve been given.

At its heart, this project is deeply personal. It’s for my boys — Michael Alfredo and Max Alexander — so that one day they’ll know their dad’s life mattered. That even with all my flaws, fears, and failures, I found the courage to chase a dream bigger than myself.

A dream that no child, no parent, no family facing cancer will ever feel alone again.

In our story, my sons and I imagined a world where every child with cancer is honored as a champion. Today, that dream is starting to take shape — brick by brick, heart by heart and now, page by page.

Where the story begins…

Before there was a campaign, there was a bedtime story — a father, his sons, and a dog named OdieBoy who dreamed of a Hall built on hope.

Written through Michael’s eyes, inspired by his sons, and shaped by the real families he’s met, Dream Big: The Hall of Champions carries the heartbeat of this mission.

Every chapter reminds us why this fight matters — not in statistics, but in faces, laughter, and love that endures.

It’s a story that asks one simple question: What if hope could build something real?

When you purchase the book, you’re doing more than reading.

You’re laying a brick in the hall itself.

Two young boys and a dog sitting at a kitchen table, all wearing red shirts with yellow ribbons, celebrating a cause at night.

“OdieBoy curled up at their feet, his tail gently thumping the floor, as if he already knew something big was about to happen.”
